The Great Hierarch icon of Jesus Christ is the depiction of Jesus Christ in patriarchal vestments. This kind of icon, the Great Hierarch, is based on the Old Testament prophecy: " You are a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek" (Ps.109: 4), commented by the Apostle Paul as follows " being designated by God a high priest after the order of Melchizedek" (Hebrews 5: 10).
